I’m nearly 30 and I’m at the very start of my journey along the road called “Love Your Own Body”. I’m a little of envious of those women (and men) who are at the end, or even halfway down the road and are younger than me. If I could tell my 20 year old self only one thing, it would be to try and learn to love my body now, rather than in 10 years time.
This brings me to my post subject: Women Crush Wednesday. I am crushing on all the women who are already loving of and confident in their own bodies.
If I had to pick just one of these women, it would be the founder of the #effyourbeautystandards movement, Tess Holliday (previously Munster). You may have already heard about her. Just recently she was in the media as the first size 22 model to do a feature in Vogue.
I’ve been following her on social media for a while now and I just love how confident (and gorgeous) she is. She’s the same age as me, but I’m completely jealous of her level of body positivity compared to my own (but don’t worry, I’ll get there eventually). Last weekend she held a meet and greet, so of course I just had to go!
There were a few hundred people who turned up to meet her (as well as myself and my sister) and she seemed totally cool, calm and collected with the whole situation.
Because she looked so perfect in her photos on social media, I thought that a lot of them might have been edited, however this is not the case. She is just as pretty and gorgeous in real life as she is in her photos.
She exudes confidence (but not in an arrogant bitch kind of way) and you can see that it rubs off onto other people. She’s also completely down to earth and was happy to answer a couple of questions I threw at her.
There are so many other body positive role models out there and those are the women I’m crushing on!
